Olympic Lifting Workshops

If you are anything like the MIT Recreation trainers who love weightlifting, the last thing you want is to suffer an injury that may keep you out of the gym for an extended period of time. You are all about gains, and you know that you cannot reach your goals unless you observe proper warm-up, lifting and recovery techniques. To help educate lifters and keep you on the path towards progression, our fitness department is offering Free Olympic Lifting Workshops throughout the spring.

Students, members and guests can sign-up for the sessions listed below at the Z Center or Alumni/Wang Fitness Desks. Each session will have 14 spots available, and will be held at the Z Center, 2nd Fitness Floor in the morning at 9:00am and again in the evening at 4:00pm.

  • Session One: Squats
    Monday, February 22, 2016 (NIRSA Rec Sports Day)
  • Session Two: Bench Press
    Tuesday, March 8, 2016
  • Session Three: Deadlift
    Wednesday, March 30, 2016
  • Session Four: Clean
    Thursday, April 21, 2016
  • Session Five: Snatch
    Friday, May 13, 2016

 

So, why should you attend these workshop sessions? In addition to being offered at no cost and focusing on injury prevention, sessions will also cover mobility and flexibility specific muscle groups, correct form and weightlifting exercise variations. Participants can also meet some of our trainers and explore options for continued on-on-one coaching.
