Massage / Learn Massage
Massage appointments are arranged after registration. Register at the main customer service desk and a fitness staff member will contact you within 48 hours to schedule your massage. All massages are conducted at the Zesiger Center. Male and female therapists are available and are trained in one or more of the following disciplines: Deep Tissue and Swedish Massage, Sports Massage and Injury Prevention, Pre-Natal and Post-Natal Massage.
Sessions must be redeemed with-in 1 year of the purchase date.
Meet Our Therapists
Livia Fontes is a nationally certified therapeutic massage therapist that graduated of the Palmer Institute of Massage & Bodywork in Salem, MA. She is also a Specialty instructor (Learn Massage) at MIT. She has been a massage therapist for the past 6 years and specializes in Prenatal, hydrotherapy, and Hot Stone massage. She also performs integrative massage, which combines Swedish with Deep Tissue and stretching.
Annamaria San Antonio LCMT, is a Massage and Bodywork Therapist with more than 18 years experience. She is also a holistic health consultant, a Certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher and has taught yoga for the past 4 years. She employs an integrative approach to hands-on therapy that incorporates injury techniques such as Deep-Tissue, Trigger Point, and Cross-fiber Friction, Swedish Massage, Reiki and Energy-Medicine, Pregnancy and Post-Partum Massage, and Ayurvedic Bodywork. She has also taught the Learn Massage class here at MIT during IAP and summer semesters.
Joseph Welch is a certified Ben Benjamin Muscular Therapist. He received his training from the Muscular Therapy Institute in 2006, and was educated in the techniques of Neuromuscular Therapy; Sports Massage; Myofascial Release; and Injury Related Compensation Patterns. In 2008, Joseph received his Reiki I and II Certification from Reiki Master Nate Peyman. Joseph specializes in deep tissue massages, as well as sports related massages. He has been a nationally certified massage therapist since 2006, and received his state licensure in 2008.
Learn Massage (W59, Conference Room)
This course combines various massage techniques, with a cursory view of anatomy & physiology, theory and application of therapeutic massage. As is the nature of massage, this course is experiential and the material will be presented in lecture-demonstration, discussion, and hands-on participation. It provides guidelines for your exploration of the body-mind connection. Learning how to give and receive a good massage is an art and a science. It develops the art of trusting one's intuition and deepening one's knowledge from concept to wisdom. It is the practical application of internalizing the sciences of anatomy and physiology.
