Members must have a present or have held a previous MIT Gym membership for at least four (4) consecutive months in order to request a health insurance letter. Members of the Traditional or Flexible MIT Health Plans may be eligible for a $150 fitness reimbursement for membership or exercise classes. For more information on the Fitness Benefit program visithttp://web.mit.edu/medical/p-fitness.html Members of Blue Cross Blue Shield may be eligible for fitness reimbursement. Membership / Pass Cancellation
Annual and 6-Month memberships are non-refundable 60 days after date of purchase. A $50 cancellation fee plus prorated pass fee applies for cancellation within 60 days.
Downgrades / Upgrades
Patrons may request an upgrade/downgrade on membership status* and/or term.** To upgrade or downgrade a membership***, the appropriate form needs to be submitted two weeks prior to current membership expiration date.
Upgrades/downgrades are only available while a membership is active. When upgrading/downgrading membership status, the original expiration date will remain the same and the membership will be prorated. When upgrading/downgrading a membership term, the expiration date will reflect the term you upgrade to and the membership fee will be prorated.
*Status refers to Membership Eligibility (i.e. Faculty/staff, alumni, affiliate, etc.)
**Term refers to membership length (i.e. annual, 6 month, etc.)
***6-month memberships are only eligible for downgrade to a Summer Membership within seven (7) days of the new Summer Membership extension rate date: May 31st
Monthly, weekly, and daily passes are non-refundable and non-transferable.
