Locker Room Policies and Procedures
General

• Patrons should keep valuables secured in a locked locker. Never leave valuables unattended at any time while using DAPER facilities. The MIT Police Department reports that nearly all incidents of personal theft occur from unattended property or personal property left in unlocked lockers.
•  Children under the age of five may accompany their parent or guardian in either men’s or women’s locker room. Children over the age of five are not permitted to enter the locker room of the opposite gender. A family changing room is available in the Zesiger Center adjacent to the pool offices.
•  Patrons are responsible for helping to keep locker rooms clean by picking up after themselves and their children or guests.

Rental
• Lockers in the Zesiger Center, du Pont Athletic Center, and Alumni Pool and Wang Fitness Center are available for rental under the following conditions:
–  Lockers are rented through a wait list system. To enter the waitlist, please visit our website, www.mitrecsports.com. If you have questions about rental or day use lockers, email lockers@mit.edu.  Locker waitlist requests are ONLY accepted by completing the online locker waitlist form on our website.
– Members may rent a locker for an annual or 6-month term, based on
availability and the length of their membership. Locker rentals run concurrent with membership term. Memberships and lockers that are not renewed expire on the same day. You must remove all personal items from your locker on or before date of expiration.
– Items that are left in an expired locker will be cleared from the locker and kept for 30 days from date of expiration at the main desk, then will be discarded.

Day Use
• Day-use lockers are available for patron use. The day-use lockers are the tall lockers in all locker room. Half-size and one-third size lockers are rental lockers and should not be used for day use.
• Patrons must provide their own locks for day use lockers. Locks are provided on rental lockers. If a personal lock is left overnight on a day use locker, the lock will be removed and the belongings will be collected. The owner may claim forgotten items at the main desk of the facility in which items were forgotten. A fee will be levied to reclaim bagged items left in day-use lockers. Items cleared from a day use locker will be kept up to 30 days from the day it was emptied.

Lost and Found
• MIT, the DAPER and its staff are not responsible for lost or stolen articles. Patrons are encouraged to store and lock all belongings in lockers.
• Please return any found items or direct inquires regarding lost items to the main desk. Patrons may ask staff members to look in the lost and found for items, but are not permitted to search through lost and found items under any circumstance.
• Found items of value (i.e., jewelry, wallets, eyeglasses) will be held up to thirty (30) days. After this time, items will be sent to the MIT Police Department.
• Miscellaneous items, including clothing and recreational equipment, will be held for thirty (30) days, and then disposed of according to MIT procedures. For health reasons, towels, socks, undergarments, and toiletries will be discarded immediately.

Towel Service
• Towel service is available to patrons with a valid MIT Recreational Sports towel card. Only patrons with a towel service card  will be permitted to take a towel. An ID may not be used to check out a towel. Patrons must return used towels to the Vassar, du Pont or Alumni/Wang main desk to reclaim towel service cards.
• Towel service cards allow patrons to use towel service while in the DAPER complex. Cards are non-refundable and must be turned in after completion of membership.
• Members are issued one (1) complimentary towel service card for each person on a membership account. Towel service cards are issued one time only, not at the start of each membership term.
• Additional towel service cards can be purchased from the main desk at either facility. It is the responsibility of the member to purchase a replacement for lost or stolen cards.
