  • Patrons can now guarantee his or her spot in class by making a reservation in advance and arriving to class on time.
  • Patrons are required to have a group exercise pass or trial pass to reserve a spot as well as to participate in any of MIT
  • Recreation’s general group exercise classes.
  • This excludes the free noon classes, in which patrons can make a reservation in advance and participate without purchasing a group exercise pass or trial pass:
    • Class registration opens 25 hours prior to the class start time.
    • Class registration remains open until 1 hour before the official start time of the class or until the class has reached maximum enrollment.
  • If a patron is unable to reserve a spot in the class they are encouraged to use the stand by line located outside each studio.
    • The standby line will open 30 minutes before the official start time of class
    • Stand By patrons must obtain a stand by line ticket from the Alumni Wang Fitness Desk or Vassar St Desk at the Zesiger Center
    • The ticket indicates that the patron has checked in, and will help determine the chronological order of standby patrons as spots are first come first serve.
    • A sign will indicate the location of the stand by lines.
    • At the official class start time the amount of available spots left in the class will be assessed and spots will be given to patrons in the standby line.
    • Patrons in the stand by line will be able to participate in class based off his or her chronological order of check in, but a patron must be in the stand by line at the official class start time to claim his or her spot.
    • Those in the stand by line must be dressed and ready to join class at the class start time.
  • Class registrations can be made or cancelled in person at either of these locations:
    • Vassar desk at the Zesiger Center
    • Fitness desk at Alumni Wang.
  • If a patron cannot attend a class he or she must cancel his or her reservation at least 1 hour prior to the class start time in order to avoid receiving a “No-show.”
    • Once a patron receives 3 “No-Shows” he or she will be prohibited from registering for classes in advance for seven days. The patron is still encouraged to attend classes, but must use the stand by line.
    • Once a patron receives 6 “No-Shows he or she will be prohibited from registering for classes for the rest of the semester. The patron is still encouraged to attend classes, but must use the stand by line.
  • At the beginning of the semester, each patron starts with a clean slate. “No-Shows” do not roll over into other semesters.
  • For patrons who have registered in advance, class check-in will begin 5 minutes before the class official start time.
    • Preregistered patrons do not need to check in at any desks, they may go straight to class.
    • Patrons must be dressed and ready for class at check-in.
    • Patrons must present photo ID at check-in.
  • Those who have not checked-in by the class official start time will forfeit their spot to patrons using the stand by line.
  • If patrons who have signed up online are late but within 5 minutes of the class official start time they may still attend the class as long as there is still space.
  • No one will be permitted into class 5 minutes into the class official start time.
